Ever since having my daughter, I have been a sewing machine! This past week I was scouring my brain and the internet for something to give as a present to one of Miss K's little friends who was having a birthday party. I decided I would make her a little peasant dress. I love this style because it so easy to make and add your own personal touches to. I used this tute from Prudent Baby and added my own special touches as well. Here's the steps...
For one toddler dress (size 2t):
- 1 yard of fabric
- 1/4 inch elastic (approximately 13″)
- corresponding thread
- safety pin
- elastic thread
- pins (optional)
And away we gooooo!

I made 3/4 length sleeves so my ARM PIECE was 5"x14" instead of the 5"x16" as listed above.
On one of the dress pieces I took a piece of ruffle and folded it in half to make a cute neck accent and sewed it about 2 inches from the top of the neck. I then made a little black bow out of a square on fabric that was approx. 4 inches long by 2 inches high. I then sewed the bow on and a couple little black buttons and voila, an adorable easy to wear dress!
My difference in the dress tute is where they have you placing elastic in the sleeves. I used elastic thread and just sewed a stitch around the sleeve about 2 1/2 inches up from the hem of the sleeve. I'd never done sewing with elastic thread before and it was SUPER EASY! If you have any questions let me know and I'll help you!
